Nonviolent Communication (NVC), sometimes referred to as Compassionate Communication, is a method for improving communication by focusing on feelings and needs rather than judgments and evaluations. It emphasizes empathy, understanding, and collaboration to foster stronger relationships and resolve conflicts peacefully.

NVC involves four key components:

1. Observations:

Describing what you see, hear, or smell, without judgment or interpretation.

2. Feelings:

Expressing how you feel in response to the observation, using feeling words rather than evaluations.

3. Needs:

Identifying the underlying needs that are driving your feelings.

4. Requests:

Making clear, specific, and actionable requests that will address the needs of all parties involved.

By practicing NVC, individuals can improve their communication skills, build stronger relationships, and address conflict in a more constructive and compassionate way.
